InMoov Humanoid Robot
Nepal's build of the world's first open-source, life-size 3D-printed humanoid robot. Custom-modified servo motors imported from China, a proprietary gear system for torque efficiency, and Nepali-language voice interaction — a multi-year build placing Nepal on the global robotics map.
AI-Powered Wheeled Robot
Advanced autonomous mobile robot on NVIDIA Jetson Nano — YOLOv8 object detection, OpenAI VLM for scene understanding, Whisper for Nepali & English voice commands, DeepFace for visitor recognition, and ultrasonic obstacle avoidance. Fully engineered in Nepal.

Nepal's First Supercomputer
First demonstrated May 17, 2006 — Nepal's first operational supercomputer: a 16-node cluster running OpenMosix and Oscar on open-source OS. A national milestone for high-performance computing, AI training, and research infrastructure in Nepal.
Nepal's First Computer Manufacturer
Founded Nepal's first domestic computer hardware manufacturing company with its own dedicated power plant — producing locally-made computer cards and accessories to reduce import dependency and build true technology sovereignty.

The robot uses NVIDIA Jetson Nano as its edge computing brain, handling all on-device AI inference including real-time object detection with YOLO, scene description with OpenAI's Vision Language Model, voice understanding with Whisper, and face recognition with DeepFace — all running together in real time.

From displaying the first Nepali text on a computer to building humanoid robots — every decade marks a new frontier in Nepal's technological history.
First Devanagari Computing in Nepal
Muni Bahadur Sakya demonstrated the first-ever Nepali-language display on a CP/M-based microcomputer, showing the National Anthem in Devanagari script. A historic moment that opened the door to Nepali computing. Awarded the Science Award in December 1983 for this achievement.
High Tech Pioneer Founded
Established High Tech Pioneer Pvt. Ltd. at Dillibazar, Kathmandu — Nepal's first commercial computer hardware company. Began manufacturing computer components and accessories, laying the foundation for Nepal's domestic technology industry.
Sun Moon Computer Industry — Nepal's First Computer Manufacturer
Opened Sun Moon Computer Industry, Nepal's first company for manufacturing computer cards commercially. Took hardware production to a fully commercial scale, reducing Nepal's dependency on imported computer components.
RONAST Award for Science & Technology
Received the prestigious Royal Nepal Academy of Science & Technology (RONAST) award for outstanding and sustained contributions to science and technology development in Nepal.
Nepal's First Supercomputer Demonstrated
For the first time in Nepal, a supercomputer with 16 nodes was publicly demonstrated. The system ran on open-source OS with OpenMosix and Oscar, using sixteen computers in a cluster configuration — a national milestone for high-performance computing in Nepal.
ICT Pioneer Award
Muni Bahadur Sakya received the ICT Pioneer Award in recognition of his lifetime contributions to Nepal's information and communications technology sector and his role in shaping the nation's digital landscape.

Muni Bahadur Sakya
Patan, Kathmandu · Est. 1984
Born in 1942 in Patan, Muni Bahadur Sakya is credited with bringing computing to Nepal. In 1983, he made history by displaying the Nepali language on a computer for the very first time. Over four decades he founded Nepal's first hardware companies, operated the nation's first supercomputer, and today leads the charge into robotics, AI, and Devanagari language computing.

Muni Bahadur Sakya

In 2006, he publicly demonstrated Nepal's first supercomputer — a 16-node cluster running on open-source OS — a national milestone. Today he leads High Tech Pioneer's charge into humanoid robotics, AI, and Devanagari language computing, placing Nepal firmly on the global technology map.
Ram Kumar Tamang
Kathmandu, Nepal
Ram Kumar Tamang is a backend software engineer with 3+ years of experience building production-grade systems using Python, Django, and FastAPI. He currently works at NAXA Pvt. Ltd., where he develops national weather forecast and flood early-warning platforms — systems that serve Nepal's disaster management infrastructure.
At High Tech Pioneer Nepal, Ram serves as the Software Lead on the InMoov Humanoid Robot project. He is responsible for the robot's software architecture — integrating OpenAI Whisper for Nepali voice recognition, DeepFace for facial identification, YOLOv8 for object detection, and building the overall control pipeline on the NVIDIA Jetson platform. His work bridges the gap between enterprise backend development and embedded AI systems.
Subash Sigdel
Kathmandu, Nepal
Subash Sigdel is a robotics and AI researcher specializing in Reinforcement Learning and Computer Vision. His primary research investigates how Vision Language Models (VLMs) can be grounded in physical action — a key open problem in embodied AI and spatial intelligence. He is a Research Assistant at the A² Lab at NAAMII (Nepal Applied Mathematics and Informatics Institute for Research).
At High Tech Pioneer Nepal, Subash leads AI research for the InMoov Humanoid Robot project — specifically integrating VLMs for semantic environment understanding, so the robot can reason about its surroundings rather than just detecting objects. He also contributes to the 3D printing pipeline and mechanical assembly process.
Akash Tamang
Kathmandu, Nepal
Akash Tamang is a hands-on lab engineer and hardware specialist at the High Tech Pioneer research laboratory. He is the operational backbone of the lab — providing critical support across all active hardware projects through assembly, calibration, testing, and maintenance.
His work on the InMoov Humanoid Robot project includes physical assembly of 3D-printed components, servo motor wiring, calibration of degrees of freedom across the arm and hand assemblies, and sensor integration testing. On the AI Wheeled Robot, he handles ultrasonic sensor mounting, chassis assembly, power system setup, and hardware troubleshooting.
